The regatta is initiated by Swan Club Denmark organised by the Elsinore Yacht Club and raced on the well known racing area of Øresund. The aim of the regatta is to provide enjoyable and competitive racing for yachts over 35’ of various designs or vintages, their owners, families and friends and to offer a varied and entertaining social programme ashore. The regatta is part of the Hanseboot Baltic IRC Challenge see www.baltic-irc.org as well as the Baltic Sea Challenge for Nautor Swans see www.balticseachallenge.dk
1. RULES
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing 2009-2012 incl. Danish Sailing Federation rules and regulations, except as changed by this notice of race and the sailing instructions
1.2 Rules are changed as follows:
Rules 44.1 will be changed to state 720 degrees penalty will be replaced with 360 degrees
Rule 34, A4 and A5 will be changed to state that boats failing to finish within 30 minutes after the first boat in the same start finishes, will be scored Did Not Finish (DNF).
Rule 60.1(a) will be changed to state, that a competitor can not protest another boat or competitor for breaches for some specific parts of the sailing instructions.
Rules 61.3 and 62.2 will be changed to coordinate the protest time for competitors, protest committee and race committee.
Rule 62.1 (a) will be changed to shorten the time limit for reopening protest hearings.
Rule A4 will be changed by stating, that at boat starting later than 4 minutes after her starting signal will be scored Did Not Start (DNS).
The changes will appear in full in the sailing instructions.
1.3 DH-2009 will apply for boats sailing under DH races and IRC 2010, 1, 2 and 3 will apply for boats sailing under the IRC rule
1.4. ADVERTIZING. ISAF regulation 20 will apply. Boats may be required to display advertising and starting numbers in accordance with these rules. Tracking equipment may be required.
2. ELIGIBILITY, CLASSES AND RATING.
2.1 The regatta is an invitational regatta open for yachts over 35’ who holds a valid DH or IRC certificate. The number of boats are limited to 35. Boats participating in the Baltic Sea Challenge for Nautor Swans (www.balticseachallenge.dk) or The Hanseboot Baltic IRC Challenge Circuit (www.baltic-irc.org) will precede.
2.2 Boats who are invited must sign up on the homepage www.balticseachallenge.dk or Elsinore Yacht Club, www.has-sejlklub.dk/irc-challenge or contact Swanklub Danmark at erik@berth.dk. Participation will only be valid if starting fee has been paid. Entrance fee will be returned if the regatta is cancelled.
2.3 If a crewmember becomes ill or is injured after signing up, he may be replaced if a written application is accepted by the race committee.
2.4 The organisers may by its own choice invite any number of boats who can sign up as stated in 2.1. Entries will be closed when 35 participants has signed up and fully paid the entrance fee not later than June 15th 2010. After this date the race committee may accept any entry among boats who has shown their interest in the regatta until the maximum number of yachts has reached 35.
2.5 The boats will be divided into classes based on their handicaps which will be posted on our website www.balticseachallenge.dk
3. FEES
3.1 Entry fee is DKK 1.900,00 or EUR 255,00. Fee must be paid to Nykredit Bank, Stengade 63, DK-3000 Helsingør, account # 5494 1700031, Swift NYKBDKKK, IBAN no DK0554940001700031 not later than June 15th 2010. Tickets will be available for the crews and friends to attend the social program in the regatta tent. There will be free berthing in the North Harbour rom june 19th during the regatta until june 29th.
4. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
Draft sailing instructions will be available on the regatta web site one week before the regatta. The sailing instructions will furthermore be available at registration.
5. THE COURSES
5.1 Marks in the offshore and inshore courses will be navigational marks together with inflated marks. A list with the relevant buoys and marks and their positions will be attached to the sailing instructions
6 RACES
6.1 RACE 1: Offshore race, 30-60 NM. The configuration of the course for each class will be presented at the skippers meeting and will furthermore be posted on the Notice Board.
6.2 RACE 2-7: Windward/Leeward Race, 8-10 NM, to be presented at the skippers meeting
7. SCORING:
7.1 The Low Point scoring system of Appendix A will apply.
Class finishing places will be calculated using each yacht's corrected time calculated from: Corrected Time = Elapsed time x TCF.
Fleet finishing places will be calculated using each yacht's corrected speed calculated from:
Corrected Speed = Class Course Length / Corrected Time. There will be an overall winners for IRC as well as DH.
7.2 7 races are scheduled.
7.3 A boat's series score will be the total of her race scores.
8. SAFETY
8.1 Danish legislation requires every boat to be equipped with personal buoyancy for the number of persons on board at any time
There will be daily prizes in both IRC and DH, donated by the day main sponsor.
A perpetual trophy has been donated to the regatta for the best fleet finishing place for participating Nautor Swan Yachts.
The organisers are planning a social programme for every day after sailing; happy hour, dinner, bar & music in indoors facilities. There will be a breakfast buffet for all participants each morning. Prices to be announced on our website www.balticseachallenge.dk.

Elsinore North Harbour is situated approx. 1 km north of the town of Elsinore in a very attractive yachting area and with the famous Castle of Kronborg (Hamlet) as the closest neighbour . It is an attractive yacht harbour with all facilities available to cater for a fleet of high profile yachts . Depth is limited to 3.5 m. There is a clubhouse for the Yacht club, Elsinore Yacht club, with a restaurant from which there is a full view of the racing area. It is easily accessible from the E 45 and with public transportation from the centre of Copenhagen and Kastrup International Airport.
Accommodation is available on nearby hotels i.e. Hotel Marienlyst. A list of hotels will be made available on the event website.
